It is important to realise that as a rule only 60% will get pregnant in the first 6 months. So if you have only been trying for that time do not panic.
Often the first step to take is to check to see how your overall health is and your life style. This can dramatically affect your chances of getting pregnant.
- Are you overweight? If you are overweight avoid going on a fad diet, however it would be beneficial for you to lose weight before you got pregnant.
- Do you or your partner smoke. Smoking will delay your chances of getting pregnant, it is also bad for your health and once you get pregnant it is important that you stop smoking immediately. It is very bad for the babys health. Your partner should also not smoke, or at the least not around you.
- Drinking any caffeine is likely to reduce fertility, and is also harmful when you are pregnant. Remember that caffeine is not only in coffee but also chocolate and soda drinks.
- Do you have regular exercise. Even going for a walk 3 times a week will help you fertility. If you are a member of a gym remember you can exercise throughout your pregnancy so do not give up your membership
- Alcohol and drug use is rather obvious. It is seen as a definite no if you are wanting to get pregnant.Marijuana will have an affect on your hormones and will make it much harder to conceive. This applies both to men and women. Alcohol should also be avoided.
- Your diet also is important. It helps with your overall health. The fitter and healthier you are the better your chances of getting pregnant. Fruit, vegetables and plenty of water are necessary as part of your eating plans. do not forget nuts and grains. All help to provide the balance your body needs.
- Your age does play a role in how quickly you can expect to get pregnant. Unfortunately once you are over 35 you are considered older. Therefore things may take a little longer, not always but in that age group of over 35 you have to more diligent in getting all other factors in your favour.
- The timing of sex is also important, you can only conceive at the time of ovulation, if you do not have sex during that time you will not get pregnant. So get your charts and work out your timing. A few days before ovulation is also a good time as not all women know the exact time.
- Try and make sure you can have a more relaxed life style. That can be difficult but by giving yourself time to relax each day,yoga classes meditation reading a book. It is what ever you find relaxing.
